"TROWBRIDGE SYMPOSIUM YIELDS PRESS, CONTRACT SIGNING"
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
[Nashville, TN - USA]
The Trowbridge Symposium 2002 held at the Airport Marriott
August 23 - 25 yielded press and contract signings for the
attendees. Workshops by hit songwriters and talent showcases
highlighted the event culminating in an Awards Presentation
Sunday.
Hit songwriter workshops by Bob Feldman, Jerry Vandiver,
and Jerry Cupit were a big favorite of Symposium attendees.
Rundi Ream and the Songwriters Guild of America (SGA)
Nashville chapter coordinated the writer workshops.
Songwriters and performing artists from near and far
showcased their talents on stage. Five judges chose winners
in country, Latin, R&B, and rock categories. See pictures

Record labels attending included Cupit Records, Paul
Glawson Associates, and JIP Records. Four publishing
companies from Nashville and California scouted.
Live radio updates broadcast on WHEW 1380 AM, central
Tennessee's foremost Latino station.
Great Nashville entertainment "Som Brasileiro" and
"Sophisticated Fiesta" (Minnie Villanueva) supported the
Symposium. Ms. Minnie Villanueva is one of Nashville's
most unassuming stars; she displayed her Billboard Gold
Record and the highly respected Hispanic Achievement
Award. Authentic Mexican mariachi by Angel Padilla
and "Mexico Lindo" appeared twice Saturday afternoon,
leading the crowd in favorites like "Guantanamera".
Tom Johnson received the Trowbridge Achievement Award
for his political song "The Ballad Of American Steel" and
his twenty years of work with Congress and steel unions.
Johnson garnered newspaper features and interviews in
the Ohio River Valley, where he works as a steel worker
at Weirton Steel near Steubenville, OH. His Ballad warns
of the impending steel crisis in America and cautions
us to take action now to prevent the loss of a core
industry.
Tom nets feature articles in two papers, a live radio interview with talk show host PAT CAMPBELL on WSTV, and receives TV promotion support. See features, left, "Artist Given Honor For Support Of Steel" [Steubenville Star and Weirton Daily Times, 09/15/02]
Update: Tom is on WWVA and is singing his "Ballad" with Congressman Ted Strickland in OH and WV.
